In long-distance scenarios above 1000 meters, the following comprehensive measures need to be taken to ensure stable RS485 data transmission:
Cable and topology: Special shielded twisted pair cables with low attenuation and impedance matching must be used, and a bus topology must be strictly adopted to avoid star connections.
Signal enhancement: Install RS485 repeaters in the middle section of the line (approximately 500-800 meters) to amplify and shape the signal. At the same time, connect a 120 Ω terminal resistor to the devices at the beginning and end of the bus to eliminate signal reflection.
Rate and interference: Set the baud rate to a lower rate (such as 9600bps) and lay it away from the power cable. The shielding layer should be reliably grounded at a single point.
Power supply and isolation: Ensure stable power supply for all nodes. For ground potential differences caused by long distances, it is recommended to use RS485 interface devices with photoelectric isolation.
Through the above systematic design, the reliability of long-distance communication can be effectively guaranteed.
